KAPLAN & MESTER JAZZ QUINTET - JAN 29,'22
(Joel Perlish Photography)
Michael Kaplan and Michael Mester Quintet is a 5-piece jazz ensemble comprised of some of Philadelphia’s most vibrant young jazz musicians. (Images and video below.) The bandleaders and roommates Michael Kaplan and Michael Mester have individually played at notable venues such as the Kimmel Center, Exit Zero Jazz Festival, MusikFest, and more.
This jazz show was a big hit for the number of folks who came to the Kelly Center on this drizzly/snowy and cold Saturday night... Some of the highlights are pictured here... Designed as a facility to further develop the arts in the community, the Kelly Center offers exciting programming – from Blues to Celtic music, Comedy and Variety shows, Open Mic nights and more, there is something that everyone can enjoy.
In addition to being a venue to see music and other cultural events, the Kelly Center houses the New Avenue Café. The Cafe is a project of New Avenue Foundation, a nonprofit organization begun by two fathers of adult daughters with disabilities, Jim Wurster and Tom Reinke. Their goal is to enrich the community and the lives of our employees, providing them the opportunity to showcase their abilities and value as individuals.
